Did you know that some of your favorite celebrities today were once child stars?  Many of the famous faces you see on the silver screen or hear on the radio started working in the entertainment industry as children, whether it be small parts in commercials or leading roles in blockbuster movies.  Here are some of your favorite child stars and what they’ve been up to these days.

Drew Barrymore

Perhaps one of the cutest child stars of the 80s, Drew Barrymore solidified her status as a strong actor with her role in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.  Following the film’s release, Barrymore was launched into stardom and went on to appear in huge 90s movies like Scream, Never Been Kissed, and The Wedding Singer.  These days, Barrymore produces and stars in Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, and also owns FLOWER Beauty, her own line of cosmetics.

Hallie Eisenberg

In the late 90s, Hallie Eisenberg (sister of Jesse) was one of the most recognizable faces on TV.  At just 6 years old, Eisenberg won the hearts of millions when she appeared in a series of Pepsi commercials and became known as “the Pepsi girl.”  Eisenberg also starred in 90s and 2000s classics like Bicentennial Man, The Miracle Worker, and How to Eat Fried Worms, to name a few.  In 2010, Eisenberg quit acting to attend college, but her memorable performances will live on in the hearts of many.

Justin Bieber

25-year-old Justin Bieber is so famous, it’s easy to forget that he got his start posting homemade videos on YouTube!  The mega-talented singer was just 13 when his videos were discovered by talent manager Scooter Braun and became an overnight star with the 2010 release of his hit single “Baby.”  Since then, Bieber has gone on to release several successful albums and is now one of the most famous people on the planet (there are even Justin Bieber impersonators available for hire!).  Bieber also recently wed model Hailey Baldwin and announced at the beginning of 2019 that he will be taking a hiatus from music to take some time for himself.

Marla Sokoloff

Fans of the late 80s/early 90s hit sitcom Full House probably remember Marla Sokoloff as Gia Mahan, Stephanie Tanner’s troubled friend who seemed to always get the two into sticky situations.  After making a splash on Full House, Sokoloff went on to play roles in Dude, Where’s My Car?, Whatever It Takes, and Sugar & Spice.  Today, she stars in Fuller House, where she returns as her character from the original show.  Sokoloff is also married and has two young daughters- I guess you could say things turned out alright for Gia!

Macaulay Culkin

Arguably one of the most famous child stars of all time, Macaulay Culkin shot to stardom in the early 90s after appearing as Kevin McCallister in the first two Home Alone movies.  Culkin also starred in many other favorites from the decade, including My Girl, Richie Rich, The Pagemaster, and The Good Son, just to name a few.  After an almost decade-long career break, Culkin returned to acting and has appeared in several movies and TV shows, most notably The Jim Gaffigan Show, where he played himself.
