Riso Books, publisher of Portuguese-English bilingual children’s books, has published its fourth book, “Maria & Joao Go to the Festa – A Maria e O João Vão à Festa!”! The 39-page paperback book features a story about two siblings, Maria and Joao, who go to the festa and enjoy all the wonderful cultural activities and visiting with family and friends.
This delightful and engaging children’s book, wonderfully illustrated with original watercolors, is a bilingual book with text both in Portuguese and English. Children will enjoy learning about Portuguese festas.
“Maria & Joao Go to the Festa – A Maria e O João Vão à Festa!” was written by Angela Costa Simoes, a mother, wife, and entrepreneur in the California Bay Area. She began writing bilingual children’s books as a way to make learning a second language easy and fun.
“Being a third-generation Portuguese-American, I know the importance of speaking a second language, but unfortunately I am not 100% fluent in Portuguese and so it’s difficult for me to read Portuguese children’s books to our daughter,” said Simoes. “If there were books that were in both English and Portuguese, then I could at least figure out the Portuguese words and even learn right along with our daughter.”
Worth every penny!!! The book is in both English & Portuguese and is worth EVERY penny! Our copies arrived over the weekend and we enjoyed every page. This is a GREAT gift to share with those that you love of ALL ages! It’s absolutely priceless! – Teresa
